We’re a team of lighting enthusiasts who are passionate about understanding and sharing knowledge on all kinds of lights that blink.
From traffic signals to camera flashes to LED decorative lights, if it blinks, we want to learn what makes it tick and help others appreciate the technology behind it.
About Us
Our journey began when our founder became fascinated with the blinking patterns of different home electronics.
What made some blink slowly and smoothly while others blinked rapidly or erratically? An investigation into light emitting diodes (LEDs) and circuits led to a deeper appreciation of not just holiday lights but also the lighting that powers our everyday lives.
We soon discovered an entire community of people equally enthralled with blinking lights. Electrical engineers explained PWM circuits while Christmas decorating aficionados showed off elaborate animated LED displays. The more we learned, the more we wanted to share. And so the idea for Blinkipedia was born – a blog to investigate and inform about all things that blink.
Over the past few years, we’ve reviewed dozens of products, explained concepts like persistence of vision, and showcased incredible blinking light projects from around the world. And we’re just getting started.
We have lots more ground to cover when it comes to understanding the technology behind traffic lights, camera flashes, turn signals, emergency vehicle beacons, bike lights, computer indicator lights, wearable lights and so much more.
